‘Gathering of Patriots’ at Carmichael Parade

Patriots young and old gathered to mark an annual Carmichael tradition – the annual Carmichael Gala Parade – on Monday, July 4.

The morning began with a community pancake breakfast by the Carmichael Kiwanis Club.

The parade, which has been hosted by the Carmichael Elks for more than half a century, began at 10:30 a.m., at the corner of Marconi and Fair Oaks Boulevard in Carmichael.

Classic cars, community floats, marching bands, military units and dignitaries made their way down Fair Oaks Boulevard to Cypress and Manzanita where the parade ended.

Everyone enjoyed the parade. Later, there were afternoon events at the La Sierra Community Center, and fireworks lit up the sky after dark.

It was a true, community event worthy of a Norman Rockwell painting.
