Teichert Helps Pave Way for Sutter Expansion, Is Honored with Name on Motor Court

SACRAMENTO – As a pioneering company that for nearly 125 years has been dedicated to building the infrastructure of our community, Teichert Construction has paved much of the Sacramento region. So it’s fitting that a stretch of pavement that leads to historic Sutter’s Fort will now bear the Teichert name.

Recognizing the generous $1 million gift by Teichert Foundation in support of the Sutter Medical Center Midtown Expansion Project, Sutter Medical Center Foundation will unveil at

5 p.m. today the new Teichert Motor Court sign at the Sutter Capitol Pavilion, 2725 Capitol Ave.

Teichert Motor Court – a one-block-long drive through street connecting Capitol Avenue and L Street and located between 27th and 28th streets – is the main entrance to Sutter Capitol Pavilion. Patients enter Teichert Motor Court from Capitol Avenue and exit onto L Street directly across from historic Sutter’s Fort.

“The generosity of the Teichert Foundation will be felt by generations to come,” said Carrie Owen Plietz, Chief Executive Officer for Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento. “Not only is this a great addition for our patients, it is a positive step for the community as it will help traffic flow more smoothly. This donation allows us to continue to provide easy access and quality service to our patients and continue to be a good community partner.”

The Sutter Capitol Pavilion is a four-story, state-of-the-art facility that houses medical offices and Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, women’s imaging, lab, outpatient surgery and a vascular laboratory. When the midtown expansion project is completed in a couple of years, Sutter Capitol Pavilion will connect to all of the other buildings on the Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento campus with a second-story glass skywalk. The Teichert Motor Court also is the entrance to the complimentary valet parking for Sutter Capitol Pavilion patients.

In addition to the Sutter Capitol Pavilion, the Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento Master Site Project also includes the new Anderson Lucchetti Women’s and Children’s Center and a renovation of Sutter General Hospital into the new Ose Adams Medical Pavilion. The entire $724 million project is being hailed as “the medical community of the future.”

“At Teichert, we view being an active participant in the community as a cornerstone of our business,” said Fred Teichert, Teichert Foundation founder. “Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento provides critical, core health services to the community and we are gratified to be able to support its work and help improve the quality of health care and access to medical services across the greater Sacramento region.”
